Alcoholic Anonymous had its beginning in 1935 at Akron, Ohio, United States of America. It came to India in 1957 through Canadian Embassy Charles Marshall. Mr. Harry M was a teacher by profession got the message thus the beginning of A.A in India dates back to 5 th May 1957.

Alcoholic Anonymous came to beautiful city of Mangaluru situated on peninsular  Indians west cost, which is hosting convention threw Jimmy.M who had received the message from Harry M from Mumbai settled in Mangaluru in the year 1958 and started first A.A meeting at St.Joseph  Seminary parlour Jeppu, Mangaluru.

After the message came to Mangaluru it went to the neighboring district Udupi and Malenadu in 1980 and 1990. Thus the A.A spread to the rest of the district in Karnataka from Mangaluru. Today we have 4 intergroup and 1 district area committee.
